Pottery & Ceramics

Pottery & Ceramics Snippet

Pottery and ceramics are at the very heart of Kiki Bazaar. It’s where we began — on a sourcing trip through the Alentejo region of Portugal, chasing the bright, hand-painted pieces the Iberian Peninsula does like nowhere else. Everything here we’ve found in person, in the workshops where it’s made. No two pieces are quite alike, and that’s exactly the point.

From the workshops of Portugal, Spain & beyond

Portugal and Spain have produced characterful, high-quality ceramics for centuries, and they still do it by hand today. We’re proud to carry hand-painted Portuguese ceramics from the Caldas da Rainha region — the home of the original fish jug tradition — alongside the work of celebrated Spanish maker IvanRos of Córdoba.

Further afield, we source hand-thrown ceramics from Bat Trang, the 700-year-old pottery village near Hanoi in Vietnam, plus a handful of unique pieces from Morocco and Japan that we couldn’t leave behind.

For the table and the shelf

Bring a little life to your table with hand-painted ceramic dinnerware, or add character to a shelf with a decorative jug or vase. From everyday plates and bowls to statement serveware and our much-loved splatterware, these are pieces made to be used, not just looked at.

Caring for hand-painted ceramics

Because each piece is hand-painted, we recommend hand-washing to keep the glaze and colours at their brightest for years. For the full rundown, see our guide on how to care for hand-painted ceramic dinnerware.

Pottery & ceramics FAQs

Mostly Portugal (the Alentejo region and Caldas da Rainha) and Spain (IvanRos of Córdoba), with hand-thrown pieces from the village of Bat Trang in Vietnam and a few unique finds from Morocco and Japan.

Are the pieces hand-painted?
Yes. Our pottery is hand-painted by artisans, so every piece is one of a kind — small variations are the signature of genuine handmade ceramics.

How should I care for hand-painted ceramics?
We recommend hand-washing to protect the hand-painted detail and keep the colours vivid. See our full care guide for more.

Do you ship across New Zealand?
